The Bethel Church Podcast Episode 6: Personal Worship

Worship
What is worship?  This is the topic Pastor Jeromy and Josh tackle in this next podcast series.  Worship is an immense word with an immense impact on our lives.  How we understand it informs how we practice it in our daily lives.  Listen, as we explore what the Bible teaches about worship, why it’s so important for the church collectively, and for each member of the church personally.

Session 3 – Worshiping Personally

Our personal worship is a daily submission to God.  It is not just a few minutes in the word, though that may be part of it.  Our daily worship prepares us for everything – work, family, relationships, communication, finances, ministry - including worshiping together as a church.  If we don’t worship the Lord personally daily these areas of our lives will weaken.

What does personal worship look like for you? Isaiah 6:1-8 gives us an idea.

Conviction - In the presence of God we see who we really are.
Isaiah 6:1-4

Confession - Our right response is to admit our sin in every area of our lives.  We recognize we fall short of God’s glory in everything.  In every compartment of our lives.
Isaiah 6:5

Cleansing - Graciously, the Lord cleanses us from all our sin.
Isaiah 6:6-7

Commission - God expects us to go.  God sends us in obedience.
Isaiah 6:8

For Small Group Leaders

  • Encourage your group to listen to the podcast on their own.  Its better to listen separately (not as a whole group) and then discuss it.
  • Encourage your group to read the Scripture in the notes and any others that relate to mission.  Discuss as a group which verses catch their attention and why.
  • You might make this topic a starter discussion to kick off your group time, a closing discussion to end your session, or incorporate it into your current study together.

Small Group Questions

  • How do you worship the Lord during the week?
  • How does your personal worship fuel you?
